In a colorful ceremony marked by jubilation and optimism, President William Ruto officially commissioned the much-awaited Nandi Hills Water Supply and Sanitation Project on Saturday, 17 August 2024. The project, implemented by the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) on behalf of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA), is set to provide a sustainable water and sanitation solution for over 30,000 residents of Nandi Hills and itsenvirons.

The event, held at Nandi Hills, was graced by top government officials, local leaders, and a host of community members. Governor Stephen Sang of Nandi County, who has been a strong advocate for development projects in the region, was present alongside other county leaders to witness the significant milestone.
Speaking during the ceremony, President Ruto emphasized his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all regions of Kenya have access to clean and reliable water. He lauded the Agency for the timely delivery of the project.

"This project is a testament to our vision of delivering essential services to all corners of Kenya. Access to clean water is not just a basic need, but a right. We are committed to ensuring that every Kenyan has this access," President Ruto said.
CRVWWDA Chairman Hon. Mathenge Ndiritu while addressing the Agency’s Media team at the event, thanked the government for its unwavering support in seeing the project to completion. He highlighted the technical expertise and dedication of the teams involved, including Acting CEO CPA Douglas Murei and Director Kirui, who were both instrumental in delivering the project on time and within budget.

Governor Sang praised the initiative, expressing hope that the project would significantly improve the quality of life for Nandi Hills residents, particularly in the areas of health, agriculture, and economic growth. "This project will change lives by ensuring our people have reliable water access. It's a new chapter for Nandi County," he said.
The water supply project is expected to serve thousands of households and institutions in the region, enhancing agricultural productivity and improving sanitation standards. With this commissioning, the government continues to demonstrate its focus on infrastructure as a catalyst for development across the country.

As the ceremony concluded with vibrant cultural performances and cheers from the gathered crowd, it was clear that the Nandi Hills Water Supply Project is a step toward transforming the region's future, bringing renewed hope and progress to the people of Nandi.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) is one of the nine (9) Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya and was formed under Section 65 of the Water Act, 2016. It was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4 dated 7thFebruary 2020. The region served by the Agency comprise of the five Counties of Nakuru, Narok, Laikipia, Baringo and Nyandarua.
