Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency led by the Chief Executive Officer CPA Douglas Murei joined the Cabinet Secretary for Roads, Transport and Public Works Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen and other partners for the annual 8th Chemususu Dam Half Marathon in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.

Speaking during the Race Winners' award Ceremony at Chemususu Primary school, Hon. Murkomen assured the residents living downstream of the Chemususu Dam that the plans for the Last Mile Connectivity program for the Chemususu Water Supply are underway and that all residents will be covered.

To support the Marathon course, the Agency committed to build a classroom for Chemususu Primary School as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and contribution to the marathon. The Agency also plans to plant 3,000 indigenous tree seedlings in the degraded areas of the forest riparian areas in the coming week as part of fulfilling the presidential directive to increase forest cover.

Moreover, the Agency’s Ag. General Manager-Infrastructure Development and Management Eng. Joseph Salee participated in the 21 km half marathon that attracted the elite athletes both male and female. A section of the staff also participated in the corporate race.

Also In attendance was the NG-CDF Chairman Hon. John Olago, Governor Baringo County Benjamin Cheboi and His Deputy Eng. Felix Maiyo, MP Eldama Ravine Musa Sirma, MP Mogotio Ruben Kiborek, Women Rep Baringo County Chematia Florence among other stakeholders.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) is one of the nine (9) Water Works Development Agencies in Kenya and was formed under Section 65 of the Water Act, 2016. It was established through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4 dated 7thFebruary 2020. The region served by the Agency comprise of the five Counties of Nakuru, Narok, Laikipia, Baringo and Nyandarua.
