The Agency on 4th November,2025 appeared before the Senate Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunity to present its progress report on inclusivity, gender balance, and regional representation within the Agency.

The session, chaired by Sen. Mohammed Chute (Marsabit), provided an opportunity for the Agency to outline deliberate measures undertaken to align its human resource practices with constitutional principles on equality, diversity, and fair representation in public service.

The CRVWWDA delegation was led by Chief Executive Officer CPA Douglas Murei, accompanied by Director Dr. Daniel Tuitoek and members of the senior management team. In his presentation, the CEO highlighted targeted internship and industrial attachment programmes designed to enhance access to opportunities for youth, women, and individuals from marginalized and underrepresented communities. These initiatives, he noted, form part of the Agency’s broader strategy to build an inclusive workforce while nurturing future professionals in the water sector.

CPA Murei further reiterated CRVWWDA’s commitment to fair, transparent, and merit-based recruitment processes, emphasizing that the Agency remains guided by national values and constitutional requirements on diversity and regional balance.

During the session, Nominated Senator Betty Montet commended the Agency for maintaining commendable standards in regional and gender representation, noting the Agency’s efforts as a positive example within the public sector.

In his closing remarks, Sen. Chute urged all public institutions to consistently uphold the principles of inclusivity, gender equity, and equitable regional representation, reiterating the Senate’s oversight role in promoting accountability, professionalism and cohesion in public service.

The Agency continues to strengthen its institutional frameworks to ensure equal opportunity, diversity and inclusivity remain central to its mandate and operations. 

On 22nd December 2025, the Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) participated in the Kimalel Goat Auction and Cultural Festival held in Baringo County, a flagship community forum that integrates cultural heritage, pastoral livelihoods, and development dialogue in arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs).

The event was presided over by H.E. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, C.G.H., President of the Republic of Kenya, and was attended by Governors, Members of Parliament, Principal Secretaries, and other senior government officials. During the festival, the President toured the goat auction and cultural exhibitions, emphasizing the strong interdependence between sustainable livelihoods, water security, and climate resilience, particularly in water-stressed regions.

CRVWWDA’s participation was driven by the Agency’s commitment to community-centered project implementation and stakeholder engagement, recognizing that the success and sustainability of bulk water infrastructure projects are closely linked to local livelihoods and community ownership. The festival provided a strategic platform for the Agency to engage directly with beneficiary communities, county leadership, and national policymakers, while reinforcing the role of water infrastructure as an enabler of economic activities such as livestock production and agri-pastoral livelihoods.

The Agency reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with the County Government of Baringo, where it is implementing key bulk water supply projects aimed at improving access to reliable water services and strengthening regional resilience. These include the Chemususu Water Supply Project, Kambi Ya Samaki Water Supply Project and Kirandich Water Supply Project, among others. Collectively, these projects are designed to support domestic water needs, enhance livestock productivity, reduce resource-based conflicts, and catalyze socio-economic development across the county.

In line with its approach of complementing infrastructure delivery with direct community empowerment, CRVWWDA, led by the Chief Executive Officer, CPA Douglas Murei, actively participated in the goat auction by purchasing several goats. This gesture not only contributed to boosting household incomes but also demonstrated the practical link between improved water access and enhanced livestock value chains, reinforcing the relevance of the Agency’s projects to everyday community livelihoods.

Through such engagements, CRVWWDA continues to demonstrate a holistic and inclusive approach to water development, one that goes beyond infrastructure provision to strengthen partnerships, build community trust, enhance project acceptance, and ensure the long-term sustainability of water investments across the Central Rift Valley region.

The Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) came together on 20th December 2025 to celebrate a year defined by remarkable achievements, sustained growth, and collective resilience. Staff from across the Agency gathered in Baringo County for the annual end-of-year retreat, a moment of reflection, appreciation, and shared joy as the team marked the close of a demanding yet rewarding fiscal year.

The retreat provided more than just celebration. It was an opportunity to recognize milestones, both big and small, and reflect on lessons learned along the way. Each achievement highlighted the dedication, passion, and professionalism of the Agency’s staff, reinforcing the vital role that teamwork plays in driving impact and delivering essential water services across the Central Rift Valley.

Speaking at the event, Agency Chairman Hon. Mathenge Nderitu commended the Agency for its exceptional performance under the FY 2025/26 Performance Contract. CEO Douglas Murei expressed heartfelt gratitude to staff, acknowledging their unwavering belief in the Agency’s vision and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through collaboration and shared purpose.

As the year draws to a close, CRVWWDA celebrates not only its accomplishments but also the resilience and unity that define its team. With a strong foundation built on dedication and professionalism, the Agency looks forward to the year ahead with renewed energy and a commitment to achieving even greater impact in the communities it serves.

UGUNJA, SIAYA COUNTY – August 31, 2025

The air in Ugunja was filled with more than just the usual dust and heat this Sunday; it was charged with a profound sense of celebration and hope. For thousands of residents from Ugunja, Sega, and Ukwala, a long-awaited dream finally became a reality as the President officially turned on the wheel for the new Ugunja-Sega-Ukwala Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Magoya Village.

The event was more than a ribbon-cutting; it was a community festival, marking the end of long treks for water and the beginning of a new chapter of health and opportunity.

This transformative project, implemented by Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (CRVWWDA) in collaboration with Lake Victoria Water Works Development Agency funded the Government of Kenya and African Development Bank under the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program, promises to bring clean, reliable water directly to households, schools, clinics and businesses across the three sub-counties.

For business people like Mr. Ochieng’, a hotel owner in Ugunja, it means efficiency in running his business and profit increases.

"What we are launching today is not just pipes and tanks," the President told the cheering crowd. "It is a foundation for better health, for new businesses and for the dignity of every family. This is the commitment we are making to all Kenyans."

The project’s secret weapon is its clever, sustainable heart: a hydro-turbine system that harnesses the energy of the water itself to pump it uphill to the massive Mandungu storage tank. This ingenious solution is a game-changer, slashing massive electricity bills and ensuring the project can serve generations to come without being crippled by high costs.
