The main objective of Kilgoris-Lolgorian Water Supply Projects is to improve the access, quality, availability and sustainability of water services to approximately 28,000 people in the next ten years in the areas of Kilgoris and Lolgorian towns, Kilgoris sub-county.
In order to achieve this, Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency has today handed over the water project to the contractor, China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd and expected to be completed in the next 18 months.
While speaking in his office ahead of the handover ceremony to the contractor, Narok governor, Samuel Ole Tunai welcomed the project saying it was being implemented at the right moment.
The morning meeting was attended by Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency team led by Board Chairman Brig Rtd Stephen Njung’e Kihu, Director Lorna Timanoi , CEO Eng. Hosea K Wendot and GM-Technical Services Eng. Samuel Oruma.
The project is being financed by the African Development Bank and the Government of Kenya.
The project involves construction of the following; Intake, raw water main, pump station, conventional water treatment plant, laying of transmission mains, gravity mains to Kilgoris and Lolgorian, distribution mains and storage tanks.
Biggest beneficiary is the County Government of Narok while stakeholders include; the county commissioner, Narok County, Narok Water, Sewerage Company and residents of Kilgoris and Lolgorian among others.

The Kilgoris-Lolgorian Water and Sanitation project is part of the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Programme (KTSWSSP) that is aimed at improving water supply and wastewater management services in multiple towns with a view of catalysing commercial activities, driving economic growth, improving quality of life of people and building resilience against climate variability and change.
The same week, the Agency handed over the site for the construction of Nandi Hills Water Supply and Sanitation project to the contractor, China Railway Engineering Ltd.
The water project whose construction period is 18 months is expected to benefit up to 28,000 people by 2030 within Nandi Hills town in the sub county of Nandi hills. The project is being implemented by CRVWWDA on behalf of Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency.
Speaking during a courtesy call,.Nandi governor Stephen Sang welcomed the project in a meeting also attended by several county leaders among them deputy governor.
The team led by CRVWWDA Chairman, Brig Rtd, Stephen Njung'e Kihu at the same time made a courtesy call on Nandi East deputy County Commissioner.
Present were director Franciscer Kamuren, CEO Eng Hosea K Wendot, GM-Technical services Eng. Samuel Oruma among others.
